Han Geng Wins Lawsuit Over SM Entertainment

On December 21st, the Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of the plaintiff, Super Junior’s Hankyung, in the lawsuit he filed against his agency, SM Entertainment.

The Department of Justice stated, “All three contracts – from the January 2003 contract, the altered contract from February 2007, and the affiliated contract from December 2007 – do not exist.”

Hankyung had filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment in December of 2009 claiming, “I cannot maintain an unjust contract.”

Meanwhile, an SM Entertainment representative spoke with MyDaily in the aftermath of the decision and stated, “We cannot accept the result. We will file an immediate appeal to reverse the decision.”

Han Geng Caught Lip-Syncing At Press Event

After leaving Super Junior, former SJ Chinese member Han Geng is currently focusing his career in Mainland and recently released his first album "Geng Xin." Yesterday he went to Taiwan to promote for his new album and held a press conference. He started the press conference with fast song "My Logo." But it was obvious that he lip-synced. He explained because he got a cold: "I got septic throat because of my cold, always have to carry lots of medicine with me." But later his slow song "Heartache Notebook" was a live performance.

From working with 12 other people to now solo, Han Geng said: "In the beginning it was a little stressful, but my adaptability is good, and I like it better (solo)." Asked now he left, whether he has less fans? He said: "About the same, plus fans treat me very well. I didn't have many chances to meet them the first half the year, but they still donated money as a group to charity, motivating me I have to be better." Better salary? He indirectly admitted: "13 people before, now only me."

In addition, he disclosed he lost 7kg in 2 weeks for this album and admitted he lost weight on purpose: "I got fatter before because I ate a lot at home. My mom would make many delicious food for me. My weight increased to 75kg, even I couldn't stand it."

Hangeng plagiarized Yunho’s Checkmate for his new single?

Hangeng’s (in Korean, Hankyung) very new Chinese single, Fire has recently fallen into plagiarism accusations to a K-pop song, written and sung and choreographed by his former SM-mate, Yunho of TVXQ.

Hangeng recently released the music video for Fire through Youtube, and the viewers couldn’t help but to notice strikingly similar features with Yunho’s self-written song, titled Checkmate. Some netizens emphasized the similarities by commenting, “Besides the fact that the lyrics are in different languages, the song is completely the same,” “Not only is the whole melody similar, but the songs’ introductions are entirely too identical,” etc.

Yunho’s Checkmate has never been performed on air, but was enlisted as one of tracks in TVXQ’s album MIROTIC. The song was revealed and performed publicly in February 20th, 2009 at TVXQ’s Asia Tour Councert MIROTIC, where all members of Super Junior attended to join the celebration. This clearly suggests that Hangeng was aware of the song’s existence. Check out the two songs below.
