You've seen these actors in many series, but you just can't recall their names...or do you even know their names? In this special feature, Kay introduces you these "green leaf actors" (minor characters who always appear in different series), because they really do deserve some applause from us. Without them, how can the leads seem important and starry?
Fathers Version Part 1
Chow Chung 周骢
You shouldn't be unfamiliar with him, he plays a good dad usually, don't see him play someone evil in general. Chow Chung was very active in the movie industry from the 50s to late 70s. I think people nowadays are more familiar with him in "Love Undercover" collections, where he played Daniel Wu's rich father. In TVB series, he's more known in series like "Heart of Greed" (Linda's father who has alzheimer's disease, do you remember the part where he kept forgetting things and Moses Chan helped to fix his toilet + AC, and wash the cat?) and "Moonlight Resonance" (Louise Lee & Susanna Kwan's father, famous for using a spoon to hit Susanna XD). He's also in many series like "At the Threshold of an Era," "Dicey Business," and "You're Hired."
Chun Wong 秦煌
How could you forget his distinctive look! He's been in TVB for more than 30 years and played over 100 series! Because of his size, he always play big and happy characters, like Myolie Wu's dad in "To Grow With Love," Nancy Wu's rich dad in "A Chip Off The Old Block," Chris Lai's dad in "Hearts of Fencing," etc. He was in a boat accident in 2008 and thank god he was saved, otherwise we would lose another great 'green leaf' actor!
Kwok Fung 郭峰
He has been very active in 2000s, especially in 2003, 2007, and 2009, where he was in at least 8 series! He can go both ways, good and bad. He played a good and caring dad (Raymond Wong's dad) in "Sweetness in the Salt," lively detective and father in "D.I.E" and "O.L. Supreme," and a "dai lo" father of Natalie Tong in "A Watchdog's Tale." He can also be someone powerful like in 2009's "Rosy Business," where he played a powerful Wong Ye.
Bo Ye is a reluctant big star who entered the entertainment industry to support his family. Now that he has earned enough money and his contract about to end, he happily starts planning for the next stage of his life. Around the same time, unfortunate financial downturn struck his agent, his sister and his best friend. Feeling obligated to help them he contemplates on renewing his contract. Totally depressed by this thought, he buys a lotto ticket hoping that he can win the big one and save him from this dilemma. As luck would have it, he wins the jackpot but loses the ticket before he can cash it. Now he is chasing after a taxi driver, De Xing, all over town in order to get it back.
Sharon Chan and Chow Chung attended to a Malaysian carnival event yesterday. The two cooked Malaysian food char kway teow in the event. Sharon wore a white tube dress and 5-6inches heels. She seemed taller than guest Chow Chung and host Jack Wu. Sharon expressed she likes to eat Malaysian food especially Bak kut teh, but she only knows how to eat: "I'm good at eating, but not good at cooking."
Sharon admitted she likes to eat Malaysian food very much. She tried many local foods when she went to Sabah to film "Born Rich." Asked has she ever cook for boyfriend? Sharon said: "I made steak for him in Valentine's Day, but have to spend lots of time, so I would only make it once or twice a year." She stressed it's her mother who usually cooks, so she doesn't cook much in general. But she believes women must know how to cook: "My best dish is chicken wings with oyster sauce, simple three dishes and soup aren't challenging for me. But if I'm free, I would like to go learn cooking. Today I'm here with chef Chow Chung and I'll take this opportunity to learn some from him."
TVB new series "Mysteries of Love" (談情說案) held a promotional event yesterday. Actors from the series Kenneth Ma, Raymond Lam, Tavia Yeung, Jessie Shum and Lee Yee Man etc all attended. Characters were introduced in a form of award ceremony. Kenneth, who has had bed and kissing scenes with many actresses, was awarded with "Most Fa Fit [unfaithful] Man," but when he received his award, he said: "In real life it's Raymond Lam! I just share some with him in the series."
Then later Kenneth denied saying Raymond is "fa fit": "I said Raymond has many fans in reality! (You are lucky this time?) Yes! The best character of the year, never kissed that much and that intimate, better than Wai Siu Bo." As for Raymond, he said the amount of kissing and intimate scenes he has had these past 10 years doesn't match Kenneth's. He expressed jealousy: "In reality I have more love affairs than Kenneth? I want to, but there isn't any. (No pursuers?) I'll be afraid if there isn't any, but I have no time."
In addition, Tavia lost chance of taking stage shows because of her sick throat. Asked will she accept swimwear show in the summer? She said: "I don't mind, depends on the pay, in fact I never walk a swimwear show before, because the pay isn't appealing." In the event, Raymond repeated the proposal scene again and fans were very into it.
