Wayne Lai Not Signing Management Contract With TVB

Many TVB artistes left TVB after their contract ends lately. Although TV king Wayne Lai has yet thought about expanding his career to other markets, but he still doesn't plan to sign management contract with TVB.

He attended to a charity dinner last night and expressed he will take some time off for charity work even if he's busy filming. He teased himself : "Since people are still finding me these 2 years, I have to hold onto them. I might have to let others take my place 2 years later." It's said many TVB actors are leaving TVB, so who would take his place? He said: "Many newcomers. Filming dramas help them gain popularity."

Wayne admitted TVB has been discussing new contracts with him: "In fact Virginia Lok has been talking it with me, but she won't force me. I can sign whenever I want. But I'll continue to let my wife help me out. It doesn't matter. I've worked in the company for many years, money is not the most important factor. Sometimes it's feelings." It's said if he signs TVB as a manager, he would earn more commission. Wayne looked at his wife sand said: "It's the same. Depends on seasons. My wife earns more commission during the winter."

Kate Tsui Denies Always NG During Filming

Actors from "Forensic Heroes 3" attended to the blessing ceremony of their drama yesterday. Kate Tsui was reported always NG during filming because she didn't prepare enough. Yesterday she calmly denied the reports and called herself a serious actress.

"Filming lasted until 6AM. It was windy and cold that day. I NG because the wind messed up my hair. I don't have that much NG during filming. I still filmed during New Years even when I had a fever. I'm a very serious actress."

TV King Wayne Lai supported Kate and said even he would NG: "Every actor is prepared for their part, but of course we would NG, because scripts are quite hard to remember. Even I NG!"

As for Ron Ng, he expressed he just lost his iPad; he left his iPad in the restroom when he was washing hands. Asked whether he is afraid of intimate photos leaking, he denied having those photos and the most valuable thing is actually his scripts: "In fact my scripts are the most valuable. I need to download them again."

Wayne Lai Confident in His 'Chok Look'

Even TV King Wayne Lai likes to be "chok."

TVB's new game show <華麗明星賽> (All Star Glam Exam) was taping its first episode yesterday and hosts Grasshopper invited Wayne Lai, Anita Yuen, Christine Ng, and Michael Fitzereld Wong as guests. For the warm-up games, guests have to pose along the music being played in front of 8 different cameras. TV King Wayne was being very "chok" at the game. Christine went wild, catwalking and taking off her jacket to do funny faces. It was a little messy for Anita, where she had to fix her shirt during the game because of big movements.

Seemed to enjoy posing "chok looks," Wayne said he was very into it. But asked whether he can be more "chok" than Raymond Lam, he humbly said: "I think we are about the same. I'm an idol now!"

*Again, what is 'chok'? It comes from the word 'choking' and now becomes a word to describe people posing with a cool, cute, handsome, etc expressions, trying to capture fans' hearts and look good on-screen. (There's a pretty nice video on YouTube that probably explains even better XD)

"He's not eating with me, I thought I did something wrong," she joked. "In fact he's on a very strict diet. So hardworking just like female stars."

Wayne said he gained more than 10lbs and must lose weight to look good on screen.

"I'm eating only 2 bananas every meal. I really have to lose weight. My face is Maggie's double."

Wayne Lai Opens Facebook to Communicate With Son

Wayne Lai and his wife attended to an event yesterday to promote a new Facebook mobile app. Wayne said: "I always want to have a Facebook, because communicating with youngsters is different now. They won't talk to you face to face. Maybe they're afraid of embarrassment after saying certain things, like I'm sorry. It would be easier to say it online. (Not afraid your son would become autistic because of that?) Can't do much. I would bring him out to functions in general. I don't want him to look at his phone or computer the whole time, we need some balance. But I'm afraid he won't focus at his studies if I bring him out too often. (Restrictions on going online?) Yes. I put his phone and computer in another room at night, say they need to be charged. I don't want him to get addicated. Good that he listens to me." He has decided to open a Facebook account to communicate with his son.

Wayne Lai Lets Ron Ng Handle Rumors

Wayne Lai, Ron Ng, and Kate Tsui, etc attended to the costume fitting of "Forensic Heroes III." Female lead Charmaine Sheh was absent from the event. First time collaborating with Charmaine, Wayne said: "Can't wait. It's hard to collaborate with Charmaine in the same drama. (Afraid of rumors?) I'll let Ron handle it! I don't have experience in this field, he's good at it!"

Ron immediately shout "don't do this to me!" when he heard Wayne said that. He even passed this "job" to Edwin Siu and Aimee Chan. Once had rumors with Charmaine and Kate, he once again denied having a romantic relationship with the two and stressed he bought the watch with his on money [it was rumored Charmaine bought a watch for Ron as a gift]. When he was taking photos with his other rumored girlfriend Kate, the two did not seem to be embarrassed at all. Kate is prepared to face rumors again: "If I can choose, of course I hope there won't be rumors! I'll do my part well and won't think too much."

I have lots of work, now I'm letting my wife to come out to work, so I can take a break."

Wayne expressed money is not the biggest consideration he takes when it comes to working with his family; it is actually the work itself. He disclosed after his son shoot a commercial with him, his son gets addicted and hopes to do it again. Wayne Lai Says No to 'Rosy Business 3'

TVB's "Rosy Business" and its second installment "No Regrets" received high ratings and good feedback. Although "No Regrets" lost "Best Series" in the TVB Anniversary Awards 2010, but it plans to have a third installment. However, lead Wayne Lai does not agree on it: "I think we should quit while we're ahead. I don't agree on filming a third installment."

It is known producer of these two series Lee Tim Sing once thought of filming three installments: one with a Qing Dynasty background, second with an early republic, then the last with a modern day setting; however, it would be even harder to handle a modern drama.

A celebration dinner was held last night for "No Regrets" and actors (Wayne Lai, Sheren Tang, Raymond Wong, Evergreen Mak, Nancy Wu, etc) and behind-the-scene staff all attended. High executives included Stephen Chan, Catherine Tsang, and Virginia Lok also attended as well. Virginia said she did not dare to discuss contracts with Wayne and Sheren Tang before the award ceremony to avoid being said they exchange awards by signing long-term contracts; now she hopes to invite them to join with "silver bullets" (lots of money) and sincerity, but she noted: "Sheren has a good relationship with her manager Helen, and Helen is also my good friend. Unless Helen retired and she hands over Sheren to me. As for Wayne, his manager is his wife. Their contract is forever."

Sheren expressed she is a little touched when she heard Virginia said will persuade her with money. She said: "I only film series for TVB now, but I don't want to be trapped. Gau Goo Leung has lots of money!" She expressed she will regard TVB first when thinking about signing long-term contracts.

Wayne Lai & Sheren Tang Might Win TV King & Queen Again

TVB's 2010 Anniversary Awards is this Sunday and everyone has been discussing who will be this year's TV King and Queen. Audience voting ended on November 28 and all the votes have been calculated. The "professionals"---heads of 6 TVB department including Virginia Lok, Ho Lai Chun, Tommy Leung, and Catherine Tsang---finally voted yesterday and their votes count as 50% of the voting (20% producers, 30% audience).

According to reliable sources, most of these 6 people voted last year's TV King and Queen Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang. As for audience voting, the top 5 nominations for TV King are (random order): Raymond Lam, Steven Ma, Wayne Lai, Felix Wong, and Moses Chan; top 5 nominations for TV Queen are (random order): Charmaine Sheh, Sheren Tang, Linda Chung, Tavia Yeung, and Jessica Hsuan.

However, there could be still changes. Although Wayne's series "No Regrets" just ended last week with high ratings, but Moses' biggest advantage is that he is TVB's "biological son." His only disadvantage is that his "Can't Buy Me Love" ended a while ago and audience might have forgotten his performance.

If not, write Cheng Gau Mui's name backwards!"

Sheren's partner Wayne Lai, who plays Lau Sing, also said to write Lau Sing's name backward if rating did not break the record: "Tonight it's all over. You can write anything backwards the way you like. I'll do that with Lau Sing's name, too!"

Talking about the Anniversary Awards, it is said TVB is promoting "No Regrets" to win awards at the awards ceremony, Sheren joked: "Not bad. I need to ask Dong Tai's 3000 followers to do that, too!" Asked whether she greets high executives in TVB, trying to persuade them vote for her, she said: "I said hi to Stephen Chan, haven't seen him for a long time." She expressed she plans to attend to the awards ceremony: "I'm scheduled to attend to the ceremony because I think I'll mke into the top 5. Wayne Lai & Sheren Tang Hopes 'No Regrets' Can Beat 'Dae Jang Geum'

Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang accepted a radio interview by RTHK to promote for the finale of their series "No Regrets." Although average ratings of "No Regrets" is not as high as Charmaine Sheh and Moses Chan's "Can't Buy Me Love," but Wayne still hopes the series' highest rating can beat rating of Korean drama "Dae Jang Geum," he said: "Can't let it have the record of highest rating. Hope everyone can support local productions."

Sheren expressed she watched Wong Cho Lam's kuso remake of "No Regrets" and she said: "He is not defaming me. I absolutely don't mind about it. He made it so funny and his expressions are like my character's. If I don't have time to film series, he can replace me." Sheren expressed she is attending to this year's anniversary awards ceremony. Asked whether it is because she is notified that she is the winner of TV Queen, she and Wayne both said they do not know the final result until the last minute.

Earlier Felix Wong accused TVB did not promote series "Gun Metal Grey" enough, Wayne said he does not know about any inside story but hopes everyone can understand TVB's variety department, which is in charged of the anniversary show. He said: "The idea for the anniversary is fun and gimmick. It's hard to look over to every series."

Sheren expressed "No Regrets" and "Gun Metal Grey" both only held two promotion events. It is just Wayne attended more individual events that caused the misunderstanding that "No Regrets" received more promotions. It is said TVB is planning to do more promotions for "Gun Metal Grey," Sheren said: "They received attention after just one say, it's a good thing."

The competition for TV King is said between Wayne, Moses, Steven Ma, and Raymond Lam; Felix Wong and Kent Cheng are considered "black horses." But Wayne, who was the TV King last year, expressed Moses is strong and he himself might not win this year, so he will not prepare a thank-you speech. After winning the lottery on his birthday, Steven's luck continues as he received 3 nominations in this year's anniversary awards (Best Actor, My Favorite Male TV Character, and Best Host). He and Moses shook hands at the press conference to share the luck. The good brothers, who known each other after filming "Where the Legend Begins" in 2002, even hope to collaborate in the future.

Bernice Liu Definitely Supporting Wayne Lai

Bernice Liu and Wayne Lai attended to an electric car event together yesterday. As for who will win TV King this year, Bernice said she is definitely supporting Wayne, who once played her brother in "Steps." "Of course my brother Wayne Lai," she said, "They are not fighting for it, but I'm supporting my brother, I'm saying this publicly." She was asked whether she worries rumored boyfriend Moses would bet upset at her, she said: "Not afraid!"

Bernice's "brother" Wayne was teasing her at the event. Wayne intends to buy an electric car next year and reporters joked he can just get one after he got TV King again. Wayne said: "Moses is good. I'm afraid he would get the award!" Then he looked at his "sister" and said: "You give me one by then." Bernice replied embarrassingly: "I don't understand!" Wayne continued: "You don't get the relationship I'm talking about?" Wayne teased Bernice that their family relationship is the only relationship she is willing to open up.

'No Regrets' Debuts With Average Rating 32 Pts Only

One of the most anticipating TVB series of the year "No Regrets" is finally on air. It was premiered last night after the anniversary lightning ceremony. Everyone has high expectations on the premier and lead Wayne Lai even expects average rating of the premier would be 38 points. However, the result is only 32 points, peaking 36 points, but it's already better than the series' first installment "Rosy Business" last year, which received average rating of 27 points from the premier.

But the cast is not discouraged and hopes ratings in upcoming episodes would go up. "Many people said they couldn't get home on time to watch it. I believe ratings would be better if it was to air after 9PM," Wayne said at the dinner party held by actors from the series. As one of the favorites for the anniversary award "Most Improved Actor," Raymond Wong isn't too satisfied with last night's average ratings. "It could be better, but I'm confident in upcoming episodes," he said. "I won't let producer Lee Tim Sing to clean cow dung!"

In addition, netizens love to look for bloopers while they watch series, and they already dig out some. "No Regrets" sets the 1930s Guangzhou as its story setting. But some netizens pointed out the car where the police was in shouldn't exist in that time era. Some also pointed out the helmet Evergreen Mak wore in the series is not a product of that generation.

As for this accusations, Wayne explained their props are limited. "It's hard to find a police car used in Guangzhou 70 years ago. If you require that much on the props, then historical dramas are very hard to be done."

As for Charmaine Sheh's absence from the anniversary award ceremony increased Sheren Tang's chance of winning TV Queen, Sheren expressed at the dinner party last night the rumor isn't true. "How could people not win if they miss the show? If she won, the company would ask her to come back from work," she said. She also said she has work in Mainland that night and would return to Hong Kong if necessary.

Sheren Tang & Wayne Lai to Help Clean Cow Dung if Rating is Bad

Sheren Tang, Wayne Lai, Fala Chen, Raymond Wong, Susan Tse, and Pierre Ngo etc attended to the promotion event of new series "No Regrets" (aka Rosy Business 2) yesterday. All actors are very confident in the series. This is another great work from producer Lee Tim Sing and he promised if the series didn't receive good ratings, he would go to countryside to clean cow dung! Wayne and Fala also said they would help producer Lee to clean cow dung by then. Sheren joked she would use the cow dung they collected to open an organic farm.

Asked Wayne whether he's confident ratings of "No Regrets" can break Korean drama aired on TVB several years ago "Dae Jang Geum," he expressed even without counting online viewers, he is confident in breaking the record (50 points). He hopes the premier episode can have a rating of 38 points. Whether he's confident in winning "Best Series" in this year's anniversary series, he said: "I'm confident, because 'Can't Buy Me Love' is a comedy, but 'No Regrets' is a drama that can touch people's heart easily. Hope Tim Gor can win 'Best Screenplay' again, because Tim Gor put a lot of effort into it."

In addition, Fala will have to take off her clothes in order to save her family from Japanese soldiers, but viewers can only see above her shoulder. Asked whether she just showed shoulders, she said: "Keeping it a secret. Remember to tune it by then. It's different than wearing bra last time, viewers will be moved by the character."

Moses Chan Hints Raymond Lam Not Good Enough to Win TV King

Moses Chan, Wayne Lai, and Raymond Lam are the three favorable actors to win TV King this year, but it's said Moses and Wayne made their moves to stop Raymond winning the award. Yesterday Moses attended to a opening ceremony event yesterday and he expressed support to Wayne. "If I could pick, I would support Wayne. I would definitely let him have it. Wayne is the Best Actor in many people's heart!," he said.

Asked whether Raymond has a chance? Moses said with a smile: "Don't say such thing. He holds concerts and shoots dramas, how come he doesn't have a chance? Raymond is many young people's idol. He's handsome, good at singing, he still has rooms of improvement. This is the work of TVB. (So that means he sings better than he acts?) Don't say that. But Wayne and I are in the industry for very low, everyone feel our hardships, on the other hand, Raymond doesn't have too much, but he is best at singing. Wayne and I are best at acting." Talked about rumored girlfriend Bernice Liu winning Best Dressed, he praised she dresses pretty OK and no need to ask him.

Moses Chan & Wayne Lai Prevent Raymond Lam Winning TV King

TVB's anniversary awards to be held in early December. There are already predictions of this year's TV King and Queen (Best Actor & Actress). The three highest ratings series so far this year is Moses Chan's "Can't Buy Me Love," Raymond Lam's "Mysterious of Love," and Bobby Au-Yeung's "A Pillowcase of Mystery 2." This year, Raymond is working hard on TV series, films, and music. It's obvious that TVB is trying to push his popularity to the maximum, and perhaps pushing him to be TV King, too.

However, his two biggest competitors are Moses and Wayne Lai, who is appearing soon in anniversary series "No Regrets" (aka Rosy Business 2). "No Regrets" is one of the most anticipating series and staff behind the scene and even TVB high executives praise greatly on the drama. Allthough Raymond's "Mysteries of Love" received good ratings, but his next series "Growing Through Life" didn't do so well.

Yesterday Moses and Wayne started to set ways to win "Best Actor." They were shooting promotional clips for two of next year's big dramas <心戰> & <李蓮英>. Moses and Adam Cheng acted on top of a 6-story tall building. In the series <心戰>, Moses plays a magician, but his real identity is a killer. He expressed he learned from professional magicians before. "Can't say I'm doing it to make girls happy," the actor said. "Just want to surprise people and try to create a good mood."

Partner Adam Cheng praised Moses that he is tall and handsome. He expressed he watched Moses' performance in "Can't Buy Me Love." "He has different ways to perform in different dramas, very thoughtful. I look highly on him winning TV King," Adam praised.

On the other hand, Wayne, who has a chance to win TV king again, dressed up as Li Lianying, a famous imperial eunuch in the Qing dynasty, to shoot promotion clips for <李蓮英> yesterday. He expressed on the phone that he doesn't know whether he is playing the role. "Although I've played eunuch before, but this time would be a big challenge. It's a real character in the history, plus famous Mainland actor Jiang Wen played it before, and did very well."

He expressed he is confident in winning TV king again this year, but doesn't dared to look down on Moses. "He is indeed a strong competitor," he said. He also look highly on Raymond because his series did well in ratings and is popular.

Charmaine Sheh Pairs With Wayne Lai in 'Forensic Heroes 3'

It's another TV King and Queen collaboration. Charmaine Sheh to collaborate with Wayne Lai in the sequel of hit series "Forensic Heroes"---"Forensic Heroes 3". Earlier reports exposed Kevin Cheng is replacing the main lead from the previous installments, Bobby Au-Yeung, as the lead in the new "FH." But now it's confirmed it will be Wayne.

Yesterday reporters contacted producer of the series Mui Siu Ching and she disclosed "FH3" to start shooting in December. "Leads include Wayne Lai, Charmaine Sheh, Kate Tsui, and Ron Ng. Because it's hard to write more about the old leads, so this time it would be a brand new story and new characters. Plus many good actors died in the previous stories, hope they can come back in this new story. "

Mui also disclosed some information about Wayne and Charmaine's characters in the series. "Charmaine won't play a police this time. She will play a forensic pathologist. Wayne will play a cool police and solve cases with Charmaine. Of course they are going to have some romantic scenes. Since the two never worked with each other before, so it should be something fresh to viewers."

Wayne appeared to be excited when talked about collaborating with Charmaine. "To be honest, been shooting series for many years, I almost collaborate with every TVB actress but not Charmaine. My partner is getting younger. I think she is very smart and her acting improved a lot. So I can't wait to collaborate with her," he said on the phone.

Because he has to play a handsome police and pair with the pretty Charmaine, Wayne vowed to lose some weight. "I weight 145lbs now. I hope I can lose about 10 or 8lbs before the series starts shooting, so I can pair with Charmaine!"

Charmaine is also excited to work with Wayne. "Don't know whether it's confirmed. If it's true, it's definitely a good thing because I never worked with Wayne before. He is a good actor. I watched his 'Rosy Business.'"

Wayne Lai Agrees to Promote Raymond Lam as TV King

After Wayne Lai is done filming "Rosy Business 2," he officially returned to the cast of sitcom "Some Day." Yesterday he attended to the promotion of "Some Day" and was welcomed by actors from the series. Average ratings last week of this series is 23 points and is only 2 points away from Raymond Lam's "Growing Through Life" (25 points). Wayne hopes his return to the series would spark the ratings and he doesn't allow it to lose to Raymond. He said: "No such thing as letting someone win in this world. It's more important for viewers to be happy."

However, Wayne praised Raymond is skilled and popular. If Raymond can be promoted, it would be a good thing because TVB doesn't have someone to relay for a long time. Asked whether he would let Raymond have the award of TV king? Wayne said: "I'm just participating. It depends. Although people behind-the-screen like 'RB2' very much, but that doesn't mean viewers like it, have to wait for everyone to decide, not like I can just let him have it."

Teresa Mo expressed she is in the same company with Raymond and shouldn't fuss ratings with colleagues. As for Raymond's series is rated as okay, she believes viewers need time to get used to it. She joked: "Raymond is one of the popular 'siu-sans,' this handsome, no problem! No problem! I should support too. Starting tonight, I would only watch his series."
